But here’s what I want to say about Titus today: he had horrible diarrhea. Actually, he had soft stool. And when I took him to the vet, he was prescribed metro. It was the go-to, common treatment for any poo issues back then and I didn’t question it.
Thus began the cycle that I began to hear about regularly in the puppies we sent home: Titus’ poo firmed up beautifully on metro. Once the full course ended, the soft stool returned, followed by diarrhea. Back to the vet we went. Back on metro. Back to solid poo. Then the course ended and not only did the diarrhea return, it came roaring back.
That’s when I began to develop my hypothesis about metro.
