BOOK NEWS
I often joke that unshared information hurts me. I’m a learning omnivore and enjoy reading and listening to a variety of sources. But once I learn something, I feel compelled to share it! Thus, I often reference podcasts and books to anyone with whom I’m in conversation. (It also explains Instagram, as I just share everything I learn and fortunately, have met many people who are also learning omnivores).
When I packed for this current trip, I filled my carry-on with copies of Puppy Brain, intending to give away a copy of the book to anyone who might benefit from it. Yesterday, it was the guy next to me on the train. I noticed his screen saver on his phone (cute dog face), which led to a conversation about the recent loss of their dog and their intention to bring a new one into their family at the end of summer. He mentioned his 13 year old daughter, who is longing for a new puppy and who loves to read.
The rest is history.
Needless to say, this “guy on the train” took home a signed copy of Puppy Brain and hopefully, it will help them to raise their next family member to become a happy, resilient dog. Talk about job satisfaction. For me, that is about as good as it gets.

SOMETHING TO LEARN
The Mind-Bending Physics of Time
“‘Time’ is the most used noun in the English language.” “We have memories of the past but no memories of the future”. These are just a couple of interesting comments in this seven minute video that will make you think differently about “time” and our life here on this planet.
SOMETHING TO READ
The World Small Animal Veterinary Association releases guidelines for the recommended vaccine course for dogs and cats. The guidelines are intended to provide broad guidance for veterinarians in decision making, but if you are nerdy like me, you might want to read this meaty document too.
