Puppy Brain is going international! And I promise, you want to watch this
BOOK NEWS
I am so excited to announce that Puppy Brain has been acquired in Spain! I just signed the contract a couple of days ago and cannot wait to begin the process of getting it translated and released abroad. The pinch me moments continue to come.
I mentioned the other day in our virtual book club that the paperback version releases in the US on April 30, 2025 and wondered aloud if people would be interested in coming to a ticketed event like we held at Zibby’s and Hummingbird Books. I was delighted to hear a resounding “yes!” So, I am beginning to collect email addresses for events. You can help by emailing me and putting your city in the subject line. My email address is: nicholberrygoldens@gmail.com. Right now I’m thinking Santa Monica, Santa Barbara, bay area, and New York. But I’m open to all recommendations!
SOMETHING TO LEARN
40,000 Years of Music Explained in 8 Minutes
Utterly fascinating. I’ve been mentally writing a piece about the music I hear in my head when I see images of Malibu. I’ve been wondering why, when a song like The Summer of ’69 comes on, I experience the sensation of driving along PCH, salty air filling my nostrils, windblown hair whipping my face, music blasting my eardrums. How can I physically feel it as if I am there when it happened decades ago? This video explains this tactile time traveling phenomenon that is uniquely accessed through music. I’ve watched it twice and can’t stop talking about it…
SOMETHING TO LISTEN TO
Parenting Strategies for Raising Resilient Kids
This is probably my favorite podcast of 2024. And as a person who listens to a lot of podcasts, that’s saying a lot. While the focus is on raising children, it is applicable to any human at any life stage (though if you’re a mom of young adults, you’ll probably be wishing for the same time machine as I am). If you know someone who is a parent, send this to them. It should be required listening for anyone influencing the life of a young person. Thank you Dr. Becky Kennedy!

SOMETHING TO LOVE
I know these guys would love to host you in the Bay Area. I know all the people there and they do incredible work https://ourdogssavelives.org/programs/first-response-k9/ They hosted me when my book came out and it was my favorite of all the book stuff.
Yes! Please come back to Santa Monica!
