BOOK NEWS
Thanks to all of you, Puppy Brain has been number one in a couple of categories on Amazon since its release. I remain astonished and grateful (and by the way, Amazon is running a “buy one, get one 50% off” promotion!).
In my first virtual book club last week, we talked a bit about the writing process and I confessed that one of the hardest parts for me was just not knowing if everyone would find it valuable. It’s this sense of trepidation that bubbles beneath the surface while madly typing away in a coffee shop or at a retreat. Writing happens in a vacuum and requires much faith that, when the thing finally reaches the light of day, it will resonate. There is no Whoop score for the act of writing. So it is deeply affirming to see that it has indeed landed well (despite the complaint of the offended pig ear giver on Amazon reviews).
In other news, I sure hope that I’ll see many of you at Zibby’s Bookshop in Santa Monica on the 23rd! The meet and greet is from 11:30am to 1pm and should be a really fun event.
SOMETHING TO READ
Why Does My Dog Sleep on Their Back?
There are a few questions that I get asked on repeat and this is one of them. It has actually become a thing on Instagram, where our Nicholberry families post their dogs splayed on their backs, all four paws in the air, and caption it with, “How do you know your dog is a Nicholberry?” (Spoiler: as this article reveals, it isn’t just a Nicholberry thing). Finally, some answers to this vexing question.
SOMETHING TO LAUGH AT
Unfortunately, I can’t find the link for this anywhere other than Tik Tok. But after sharing a video last week about the genuinely mind-blowing process of building a skyscraper, I couldn’t resist sharing this viral construction video. If you know, you know. If you don’t, just send this to a twenty-something in your life and I promise, you’ll get lots of credibility. As you can imagine, I discovered it through my two youngest (22 and 20). Whenever I see them huddled over a phone together, giggling like they did in elementary school, I know it’s going to be good. And ridiculous. Part of the fun for me is waiting for the humor to hit and in this clip, it was the aquatic habitat. Enjoy.
