BOOK NEWS
And, that’s a wrap! What a wonder to watch the Audible crew arrive and reconfigure our home for the shoot. Within a couple of hours of arriving, they had removed all of the furniture from our family room (you’ve seen the puppies run around in there after playing “Find It”) and created the most extraordinary set, complete with lighting, boom mics, display screens, and camera equipment. It was impressive.
As they set up, I had my makeup professionally done by Melanie from Yosemite Makeup & Hair. She is a wizard! I think she did a great job of giving me a finished look (even a couple of fake eyelashes), but I still felt like me.
Zander (my youngest) walked in during the middle of it all and told me later that it was a little weird to see his mom be the center of a production like that. I get it Z - imagine how I felt.
It is taking every bit of restraint I possess to withhold the amazing videos and pictures I managed to capture. I can’t wait to share them with you! But it will have to wait until after Audible posts their content. I promise - it will be worth it.
Reviews
If you haven’t done so already, please leave a review of Puppy Brain on Amazon and/or Goodreads, as reviews make such a big difference. Even better, a review that references a particular chapter, as it will be helpful to people considering the book to see the breadth of content. I wish I could say I will give you a puppy for a review, but I can definitely promise my gratitude!
SOMETHING TO MAKE YOU SMILE
Beacon the Olympic Therapy Dog
I don’t think that Suni Lee could have anticipated the viral response to her simple Instagram post with Beacon, the Golden Retriever therapy dog at the Olympic trials. Her caption: “thank god for beacon.” As this article explains, Beacon is the team’s first therapy dog and he served a critical role in helping the athletes navigate the stress of injuries and the trials. He even wore official USA Gymnastics credentials that read “Staff.” Oh, the magic of therapy dogs!
SOMETHING HELPFUL
Best Practices for Removing Dog Urine
If you are loved by a dog, then you have encountered the surprise pile or puddle. Or both. It’s part of having a dog in your family, and is especially part of raising a puppy. This is a super helpful article about getting urine out of a variety of surfaces, including carpet and hard wood. If you know someone bringing a puppy home, send it their way, as they are going to need it!

SOMETHING TO LOVE
Aww Kerry you are the "bestest" -- 🥰 Such good info... Cannot wait to see the " pics" ... 💓
& Looking forward to the next book💞
With bated breath I wondered how the “shoot” went. I figured no news was good news! And the Dispatch is just a tease!
From your description, it reminded me when my daughter was married in our backyard. Wooden furniture and potted plants were mine and arranged with care. The caterers/planners came in with tables, chairs, and couches and my stuff pretty much removed to create a cohesive ambiance for the ceremony and dinner. Sometimes you just have to roll with it! Interesting to watch.
All these new experiences for you. It will be a piece of cake when your next book comes out. 😂😉
