BOOK NEWS
I didn’t think that I could be as excited about the paperback release of Puppy Brain as the hardback, but, I was wrong! I am just putting a couple of my events here, but oh my. So many fun things coming, including some incredible events with
on the east coast.Events
Clovis, CA
April 29th 6pm - Ticket Required
This week I met with Revival 23 owner Teresa Pries. It’s official: we are having a red carpet for the dogs. While I will be in conversation with my Nicholberry Conversations co-host Aly Brewer, I suspect that everyone might really turn out for a chance to get a picture of the dogs on the red carpet, including Fritz! (And Dolly, who is pictured below in this week’s Something to Love).

May 10th 4pm - Ticket Required
Because you all know what a tech wizard I am, I accidentally limited the number of tickets that could be purchased for this event, as well as the number of copies of Christy’s book. Sigh. My wheelhouse is puppies and writing, not tech! At any rate, the tech issue has been fixed and I sincerely hope that you’ll join me at this stunning Montecito home for a deep conversation with
, author of Flash Point, and fundraiser for First Responder Therapy Dogs. (All dogs are welcome, so long as they are good with people, well behaved, and remain on their leash).Get your tickets HERE.
SOMETHING TO LEARN
Dr. Lori Gottlieb on Relationships
While this podcast episode is entitled “How to be a Great Romantic Partner”, it’s a three hour Huberman Lab episode that goes way beyond romantic relationships. From grief to self-belief, it It was actually while listening to this podcast that I decided to say yes to some of the events that I’ll be announcing for Puppy Brain, as I truly needed a nudge. This was what did it for me: “We are so cautious about desire in our culture. Sometimes we think that, if I have a desire, it’s indulgent. As opposed to ‘you should!’ You have desires. Live a big life. I always say to people, when you you’re making a decision, choose the bigger life. That’s how you make the decision.”
SOMETHING TO READ
When I was on the
podcast, Zazie asked me to suggest a book (she asks all of her guests to do so). While it didn’t necessarily have to be about dogs, mine was. This tiny little book sits on my desk and I regularly pick it up when my brain needs an email/social media break. Not only is it delightfully bound (it’s a pocket book with great texture), it’s a thoughtful and heartwarming anthology of dog poems (and if you are a friend in my life, you can count on receiving this as a gift at some point).SOMETHING TO CONSIDER
“You can choose courage or you can choose comfort. You cannot have both.” - Brené Brown
SOMETHING TO LOVE
Live a large life...what I need to hear as I have been lamenting life becoming smaller and smaller as we age. Thank you.
Just got my tickets and told my husband he’s going 🤣 so excited!
