As you can imagine, I get a significant number of direct messages (DMs) on Instagram and emails from people asking questions about their dogs. The truth is, much of Puppy Brain arose from questions I received on repeat like some social media form of Groundhog Day (it’s a really old movie and I’m probably dating myself).

If I were to categorize the messages, a whole lot of messages would fall under “Veterinarians.”

One thing I should make clear at the outset: I am a veterinarian fan girl. If you follow me on Instagram, you see that I regularly post my gratitude for and support of veterinarians. They have my utmost admiration.

But as in any field, there are some veterinarians who do more harm than good. Just as we assess trainers and rescues/breeders, we must assess veterinarians. Obviously, they have the training and credentials that enable them to put “DVM” behind their name, but our assessment must include far more than that. 

Thus, this post on red flags.
