Enjoyed my first read of the Dispatch. A good reminder to have the courage to try new things. I bought two copies of Puppy Brain. One for my wife and one for our friends who had just picked up their Golden Retriever puppy. A wonderful book with so much information. My wife and I, in our seventies, hope to get GR puppy soon.
I use Healthy Paws insurance for my pups, and many of my clients also do. You can adjust the level of care that they will cover which then changes your monthly deductible. They pay out quickly and can do a direct deposit to your banking account.
Hi All, I have been using Healthy Paws. They are quick to pay and now have a direct deposit option. Totally worth it. As a dog ages premiums go up. A lot. But, so does a dogs needs.
I didn’t get pet insurance for Luke until he was 6 yrs old. Several friends had last minute emergencies and spent a fortune on their treatment. Due to his age I had a difficult time finding a company that would insure him without paying an exorbitant monthly fee. Pet’s Best was the best quote. Then the tragedy of cancer came like a blow in the gut. After $15,000 in charges we received $10,000 from Pet’s Best. I have insured Theo with them and they have been great in reimbursements for him as well.
Scarey experiences, the unknown, the what ifs. Staying safe and not doing some of those things is definitely the way to go. Keeping your life in a "bubble" and knowing what to expect and how to deal with the normal, is again, the best way to live. No unexpected worries or concerns. No nervous or intimidating places or people.
No joy of learning and seeing and experiencing and living. No love in growing and seeing how far we can challenge ourselves.
It's in the unknown and scarey and overwhelming that we grow and learn, even if it is only to realize that you will never do "it" again. Lol
So proud and happy that you found the courage and made that leap of faith Kerry.
Aww - you are wonderful to be " brave" & try new things! Its not easy -- well done!! I look forward to the " audible" experience - as ALL YOU DO is WONDERFUL🤗
OMG - " Tunnel 29" - excellent 👍👍 my goodness human beings are strange beings...
Thank you for all you kindly share. ( Since yer emoji post I am afraid of using 🫣😂👍)
I had WAGMO for my pup’s first year. We had to use it a couple times as he ate socks- twice! At about 9 mos, he was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition that is mild, requires no meds or daily modifications. 39 days before renewal, WAGMO dropped me! My dog was too much of a financial risk. I reported them to my state insurance commissioner for appeal and lost. So now I have a dog that cannot be insured for anything cardiac or anything that might even seem cardiac for the rest of his life. My advice, AVOID WAGMO!!
Check with your vet if they have a partnership w/ Trupanian. My vet does and automatically submits the invoices so your co-pay is usually all you pay,l depending on your deductible and coverage. Disclaimer: I don't currently have Trupanian but my vet recommends it for "next time"!
Also, read the fine print. I cannot stress this enough. We had Embrace and were happy w/ them BUT when I signed my Berner girls up, I neglected to sign up for the "medicine" coverage. I figured I'd just fill any Rx (for minor things like ear drops or antibiotics) at Costco and get a better price. I also figured that, since they covered cancer, treatment meds would be included, right? That's a hard NO. One month of chemo drugs was almost $1000, or $3000 depending on efficacy. My girls were both diagnosed with cancer; one lung, the other liver, within 3 weeks of each other. In case you're wondering, Maizy passed in March (just turned 7) and Kona passed in June at 8 1/2 years.
I've learned my lesson. Please don't make the same bonehead mistake as I did. It's already a difficult and heartbreaking time for you; don't make it worse by having large expenses hanging over your head as well.
I agree with Lydia. Pets Best insurance has been wonderful to work with. They process the claim quickly and do a direct deposit to my bank account. Pets Best was recommended by Hollie’s vet due to the many happy clients that use them.
Great article. I’ve just received my renewal from Nationwide for my healthy 10 year old Golden Baby. $2,700! They’ve been good about paying out in the rare occasion it’s been needed. Just wondering at this age if there’s any other company to consider or if I just bite the bullet. Thanks for all you do!
I also recommend Embrace Pet Insurance. I have it on all of our dogs. Pet owners can also select to add Wellness coverage in addition to medical coverage, which includes the usual annual vaccinations, heartworm, class and flea and tick meds but also accupuntcture and grooming amongst other things. They have been fantastic!!
I currently have Lemonade and have liked it, I haven’t had any problems with them at all! I’ve also heard good things about Healthy Paws with the exception of them raising their rates every year a lot (some say that certain states are more known for this than others).
It’s interesting to hear all the good things about Pets Best though… I’ve looked into them but hadn’t heard glowing reviews like these!
Great quote from Will Smith (before the infamous “slap”)…
“God placed the best things in life on the other side of terror.”

We had a good experience with Pets Best when our girl ate a sock and needed surgery to remove it.

Trupanion. All of our puppies go home with it.
Great customer service.
Unlimited payouts for life.
Vet bills paid directly in seconds.

Delighted the shoot went so well…wonder why so often our default is…no
Wanted to purchase pet insurance and polled some pet owners I trust and they. Suggested Trupanion and Healthy Paws.
I went with Healthy Paws, I liked their benefits and price was reasonable. Trupanion VERY expensive. Time will tell hopefully not for a long time 🥰
