I am so delighted to see all the book launch excitement—and even more so because I think I can come to the La Jolla event—I’m in CA and messaged a friend about it! 🎉
Thank you too for the article about reactive dogs. When I walk with my three big labs—no more than two at a time—and they are leashed, it’s really stressful when unleashed dogs run towards us. My big three year old male has begun getting more protective of me. And when I’m solo walking my older ten year old, who is the friendliest Labrador ever, when it’s only she and me on a trail in the woods, she gets a little testy even with leashed dogs who walk by. I want to explore more what I may be doing because when unleashed unknown big dogs come toward me I get nervous. I’ll do some learning into reactivity in me, and my pack.
I hope to make it on Saturday to see you and celebrate Puppy Brain with you—I’ll know within a few hours if my friend and I can do this & then get tickets!
Pegge! It would be such FUN to see you! I hope you can make it. And this is why I asked Zazie to write this article, as you are not alone. They are dogs and we need to honor what they need. Having a loose dog run up on a nervous dog is patently unfair to the nervous dog, and it isn't a reflection of you or your dog! Obviously, if you can make changes that would help, fantastic. But also, we humans need to do a better job of helping all of the dogs who don't appreciate having their space bubble invaded.
Done! ✔️ Love this book!
