Ah yes - the origin story is in there! Life is so unpredictable and mine took a (fabulous) turn that I couldn't have imagined when I started down the Nicholberry path. Can't wait for you to read it!
That means so much to me - I cannot believe how encouraging and kind my Instagram community has been in this process. And what you said is part of the reason I felt convicted about including a lot of pictures and a lot of stories. Even for those who aren't currently raising a puppy, I hope it will be an interesting and enjoyable read for anyone who loves dogs.
I can’t even begin to tell you how much I’m looking forward to your book! We are getting ready to welcome our 2nd Golden in a few months, after our sweet girl Macy passed away in 2022 at the young age of 7. Your book will be my blueprint to do everything I possibly can to make sure we raise a happy, healthy dog. I feel better equipped this time around thanks to the knowledge and insight you share. Thank you for making such a difference, not only in raising great puppies but also in educating dog lovers everywhere.
Thank you so much Josee! I wrote it with someone like you in mind, as it includes a chapter on spaying and neutering decisions (huge thanks to Bruce Christensen DVM for reviewing that chapter for accuracy), as well as the nuts and bolts of puppy rearing. Love your reference to it as a "blueprint" for raising an emotionally resilient dog, as that's exactly what I intended!
I am most looking forward to raising a golden in the future with all your incredible insights and advice. My beautiful Golden, Ginger , is almost 12 and she is my best friend! We did a great job with her but I believe some of her impressionable youth might have been handled differently. (She still has never enjoyed the car!)
Thank you so much for writing this book! Can hardly wait!!
I dedicated a lot of space to how we layer the experience of car exposure. I fear it's a little boring to read, but the car is one of those things that can so easily be problematic. "Single event learning." I hope it helps you with your future baby!
I am so looking forward to reading your book and delving into all of the wonderful insights about our beautiful Goldens. I often think how amazing it would be to spend time inside their precious minds to see and hear how they process the world around them. I have learned so much from you reading and watching your posts. Sharing my life with my Luke and now Theo has given me such purpose in my daily living.
Me too Sally! I think about it all of the time and try to see the world from their perspective. And, I love that the relationship which gives you purpose is also the one that gives your community so much love. Therapy dogs are truly extraordinary (as are the humans who serve with them!)
Thank you so much! I REALLY enjoyed chronicling their eight weeks with us and am excited to get to share that with everyone. I obviously do it to some extent on Instagram, but it's totally different in writing. And the pictures we chose ... I just love them!
I have been waiting for your book since I first started watching you a long time ago. I keep hoping to give it as a Christmas gift to all the people I've turned on to you and Goldens. Really looking forward to it!
I am so interested in reading about the time after you take your puppy home. My Golden Retrievers all have a little quirk about them. I look forward to reading all about raising a resilient puppy.
I'm really looking forward to hearing back from everyone who already has a grown dog, as I suspect that so many lightbulbs will go off while you're reading and you'll have insights into your dog. And, I hope that these insights actually help you have a deeper, healthier relationship, as much of what I wrote about has to do with we humans and how we think about our dogs!
I am so looking forward to your wonderful insights into the "Golden World". We would like to have another 1 or 2 Goldens be part of our family in the future. From following you on Instagram, your insight into what it takes to breed, raise & enjoy happy, healthy dogs is priceless. It's so evident by the information you share with all of us, just how much you care about the lives of the dogs & their families. Your book will become my "go to" reference in how to give our new golden family members (someday) the happiest, healthiest lives they can live. Thank you for taking the time & energy to share all you've learned, with those of us who want to know more.❤️ I truly admire how you do all this! 📖🦮
Kerry, I am so excited to meet you and delve into your book. I will use it as my handbook in raising my next puppy…Which I am on pins and needles to welcome into my home. I so miss the love and companionship of these amazing dogs…That is the only thing(and most important) things missing in my life….and my home. I am so impressed by the commitment and knowledge you bring to all of us…regarding your beautiful Goldens…You are truly a gift to us that love this amazing breed
I can’t wait to read it and hold the photos in my hands. I love your content so very much. I often wonder if my 4 year old golden had even an inkling of your resiliency work when she was a puppy. I doubt it but it’s fun to imagine her as a baby with her 13 siblings (14 puppies, reputable breeder). Your neurological insights and explanations are the best. Thank you so much for being you. I’m so delighted to have found you!
I'm looking forward to learning about bringing up a pup - the right way! I've learned a lot from your posts, but I'm hoping your book will be like a Puppy "Bible" - a one stop resource guide. We're hoping to get a (Nicholberry) pup in 2025 - so the book will be perfectly timed for educating ourselves ahead of time. We've had one English Golden Girl and can't imagine not getting another one!
Since our very first litter, I have kept a private blog for our families who get one of our puppies. As the years passed, I just kept adding content to the blog, hoping to fully equip our Nicholberry families for their new puppy. Needless to say, those blog entries became the skeleton outline for the book - can't wait for you to read it!
Waiting patiently for your book. To read in person, your stories, all the skills and knowledge you have accumulated, and of cause, the beautiful photos!

Thanks Kerry! I will definitely try whatever you suggest!
Love the photo at the end!
Those mama/baby photos are my favorite!

I have had four Goldens. The timing of your book for Golden number five is perfect! I can’t wait!
Oh yay! Curious - what were the genders of the previous 4 and have you decided for number 5?
I can’t wait for your book! I am in love with the way you raise puppies and can’t wait to learn more!
