Very informative dispatch! Especially interesting data regarding spay and neutering. Loved the quote...we have a decorative sign in our kitchen that says, "Life takes you to unexpected places, Love brings you home"

Thank you for including the spay/neuter study link. Gave us some very valuable information My boxer is 12 yo and unfortunately this information didn’t exist when we made the decision to spay her. now we are paying the price as she fights to stay in clincal remission from mast cell tumors. At least we have a better understanding of how this happened

I know that it is going to be an uphill battle to change the narrative, both with veterinarians and the rescue community, but hopefully we are making a dent! I'm so sorry about your girl. May she remain in remission ... hugs!

I am not the author, and there is nothing to credit anyone for the quote. It is just a wooden piece that we bought at Bed Bath and Beyond. You can use it as far as I am concerned!

Great information as per usual.

Im glad that you now have a couple of months of "down time" when it comes to the book tour. As important and as exciting as it is, it is just as important (and possibly more so) to have that self care time as well. Doing what needs to be done for yu, your family and for the fur members. Time to recharge those batteries Kerry!

I pretty sure that my new families that are soon to be getting one of our babies are getting tired of me telling them to get Puppy Brain! Each and every one of them has been told to get it and devour it as it will be such a great resource for them when they get their new family members. One of them comes over daily and sits whith the babies and reads my copy of the book. She made it to Gotcha Day and had to stop as she was in tears readying about your goodbye. She absolute is loving the book as I knew she would! 2 other families have ordered it as well and waiting to get it!

Thanks just doesn't seem enough!

It was part of why I wrote it Corie. I wanted other conscientious breeders to be able to hand it to their puppy families and know that they would be fully prepared to raise a puppy. I'm so glad that your families are reading it! Slowly but surely, we will change this world for dogs...

100% agree. Just finished reading it myself. So easy to read, SO much information to digest. It really was like talking at the table and discussing with a freind. My daughter who works with dogs in Vancouver and has her own company (Mountain City Mutts) as started to follow you and is now reading your book. She said she loves the fact that you think like her in the "train the humans first" and "there is no such thing as a bad dog" thoughts. She also trains puppies and dogs and she said that this book is giving her SO much more positive information to help with not only the dogs but especially the humans. You are reaching and teaching so many and the impact is like a stream that is turning into a river on its way to the ocean! Well done Kerry!

As usual, some great info! Our first oncologist did her oncology residency at UC Davis - that’s why I picked her. They’ve done lots of research on the cancers the Berners get most frequently. If I lived closer, I’d have taken Kona there first.

I read that female golden retrievers should stay intact. Do you know where this research or statement is coming from and why?

I did a wonderful series with Dr. Christensen from Kokopelli. He covered all things spay and neuter - you can watch it here:
